Here's What People think about Discovery

Pete Drinkwater’s debut novel is an imaginative tale of superhero power meets young lad…..whether he likes it or not! We witness ‘our’ lad, Tom Sharpe, struggle to cope with his uncertain future following a very perculiar morning’s event that threatens to change his entire life. The highs and lows of his predicament are, at times, laugh out loud funny and this is countered with poignancy, the narrative of the ‘Great’ War pulls no punches and neither should it. The writer takes us from middle class suburbia and dumps us, without ceremony, right into the trenches. Along Tom’s journey, we meet sinister paparazzi, revered grandfathers and even royalty.

All in all, I thoroughly recommend this read, the foundation for further Tom Sharpe adventures is firmly laid, next please Mr Drinkwater…

Discovery is a magical tale of a wonder boy who astounds his family with new found abilities. it is written with warmth, earthiness and splendid humour. The World War I flashbacks are particularly enchanting. Peter Drinkwater is a name to watch out for in the realm of teenage fiction.

Great read if you are looking for something to read to your children. Will hopefully be a good series to follow and I believe the author has completed the first draft of the second novel quite recently!
Thoroughly enjoyed reading it myself.

This book is so hilarious, but it also deals with some really important issues in teen life, like peer pressure and bullying. The author uses a unique way of putting these issues forward, and explains some great ways to deal with them along the way. I would definitely recommended this book to anyone going through difficulties similar to the character in the book, or anyone who wants a good laugh over Tom Sharpe: 'SuperBoy', as he is referred to frequently in the book.

This is fantastic story for all the family. Written with such genuinely colourful characters and dry humour. As the story unfolds I loved the World War one scenes and the reactions to Tom's powers. I can't wait to read Book Two! This is so good for a first book by a new author! Fabulous work. I think this might become a classic.
